An Essay About Me and My Website
Last revised: 2003.07.21
At this point, since raymondyee.net is at the embryonic stage of development,
I probably have to be more explicit in the "About" section than what
I will ultimately need to do once this site is further along. What I am
writing here is terribly rough and will undergo massive editing as I go.
My name is Raymond Yee. I'm also known as 余 俊
雄, though primarily to my Mom and Dad who gave me both my legal
English name and my Chinese name. I am
- a 36-year old Canadian citizen, born and raised in Timmins Ontario
- a resident of Berkeley, California for the last 13 years
- the son of Chinese immigrants, Wayne and Joanne
- the brother of two sisters, Janice and Shirley
- a Ph.D. in biophysics who doesn't work in biophysics anymore
- a Christian of some type (I was going to use labels such as orthodox and
evangelical but wondered whether those labels are accurate)
- a member of First Presbyterian Church, Berkeley
- a staff member of the University of California, Berkeley, where I am the
Technology Architect for the Interactive University Project
- an avid admirer of Johann Sebastian Bach
- a geek
- an intellectual or intellectual-wannabe anyhow
- an independent scholar
- a subscriber to too many periodicals, including The
New York Review of Books, The New Yorker, Regeneration Quarterly, The
Times Literary Supplement (TLS).
